We’re stepping into the 21st century by digging into a bold new idea: an experimental planetary garden.
From 17-20 May, we’ll be exchanging old, used gardening tools for a free entrance ticket*. The clou: we are asking for tools dating prior to 1989 connecting the history of the mountain with the present. Just speak to our reception staff to participate.
Shovels, trowels, weeders, sweepers, rakes, forks, shears, grubbers, and scrapers are only the beginning. Gardening often starts with a single tool and soon grows into a collection that demands its own shed. But why do we need so many tools to care for a garden? And how does this growing arsenal shape our relationship with nature?
At Teufelsberg, we’re exploring how gardening tools symbolize the control humans exert over the environment. For this artistic and ecological experiment, we need your old gardening tools.
If you send us a mail with the subject line “Planetary Garden”, we’ll also invite you to the official opening of our garden in October.
*Limited to first 30 participants only, so hurry!
